This refurbishment of an existing apartment in Madrid, transformed two adjacent small rooms into a single space that combines a large home office and bedroom with an extensive storage space. A permeable cantilevered shelf serves as a subtle threshold into the two areas.

 

The use of a dark timber floor and a pale maple veneer for the shelving system and fitted wardrobes brings a powerful contrast between walls and floor and also unifies the different elements in both rooms creating a fluid and bright environment.
